[ID: A digital portrait of Prince Ephrim from Friends at the Table from the chest up. He is an Asian man with pale skin, dyed red-orange hair, and piercings in his ears. He grimaces, looking up. The background is dark. He is wearing a purple shirt and a red-orange cape lined with grey fur. The cape flares up to the right and turns into flame. Two arrows pierce his chest, and flowers come from the wounds where there would be blood. They are surrounded by circles of light. A crescent of light frames his head. /end id]

My parents are both refugees from Vietnam. My mom works in funerals and my dad works at Burger King, and their whole lives their only dream was essentially to put my sisters and me in a position where we could have the luxury of having a dream. Because I think a lot of people don’t realize that that is a luxury. You have to meet a lot of Maslow’s hierarchy of needs before you can get to the point where you even think about having a dream.
